Maus

I am Maus, London based electronic producer. I don’t have a specific sub genre I am working on, and that is the whole idea. Diverse electronic music of all kinds. Trips and colours for different moods and states of mind. After the release of Armada Named Sound’s debut EP called “Starchildren”, featuring the voice of Andromeda S., now I am preparing my first album, using different vocalists and mastering engineers, as well as continuing a very fruitful collaboration with visionary director Christos Mavridis os that all this music is accompanied by wonderful visuals.

Some tracks from the upcoming album have already been released, and can be found online, as well as their respective music videos.

After the album is finished, the only plan is to stop composing (I have been going at it non stop for 2 and a half years) and start promoting the music by gigging like crazy.

Q1. So  Maus , tell us a bit about yourself. Where are you from originally?

Born and bred in Athens, Greece. My brain has been bombarded with art from a very early age. Films, books, concerts, you name it.

So, I lived my life to the sounds of Moriccone and Wagner, all the way to rock and heavy metal music, electronic music and eventually the likes of Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson. I studied the drums and theory of music, then sound engineering and sound design. I ended up fooling around with synthesizers trying to understand how glorious bands like juno Reactor create those

out-of-this-world soundscapes. And this is how Armada Named Sound came to be.

Q2. What did inspire you to write music?

It was unavoidable, really. I have always wanted to do it. During my many years as a drummer, I was lucky enough to play with brilliant composers, and I learnt as much as I could in terms of structure and arrangement, as well as chord progressions, etc.

Then I found myself quitting one band after the other, because people simply didn’t want to put the hard work needed to make things happen and I got tired. I realised that only if I do my own music I will be able to take it as far as possible. I never regretted that decision. This is what Armada Named Sound is about in the end. I compose and produce the music, and then I try to collaborate

with talented people who are happy to join a specific vision and project. Any musician/artist with a positive attitude will never feel chained in someone else’s project.

Q3. Tell us a bit about your latest song . What inspired you to write this track?

“Midnight at Metropolis” by Armada Named Sound is some kind of soundtrack. I moved to London, UK almost two years ago. While I was still absorbing the vibes of the city as a newcomer, I enjoyed a lot to walk the streets at night while listening to music on my headphones. This tune was already in progress, but after listening to that while gazing the London skyline, it all became somehow connected. I think you should try that.

Q4. Finally , where are we able to find your music ?

This is the place to go:  www.armadanamedsound.com

If you are too lazy to follow the link and then click the “sound” page, go here: http://soundcloud.com/armadanamedsound

And then there is youtube: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCfFURVALERhmE6i3tKi9UQA featuring all the brilliant visuals

made by Christos Mavridis.

If you are feeling even more adventurous and kind of nosy, here is more stuff that has no connection to Armada other than the fact that I did that, too:  www.spirosmaus.com
